What Sponsors Need to Know

MY ORGANIZATION WANTS TO LET CPAS KNOW THAT WE ARE APPROVED ON NASBA'S NATIONAL REGISTRY OF CPE SPONSORS. CAN WE PUT THE NASBA AND REGISTRY LOGOS ON OUR WEBSITE AND ON CERTIFICATES OF COMPLETION?

The use of the Registry logo is granted to all Sponsors during the formal approval of membership to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. There are guidelines and requirements on the use of the Registry logo in all promotional materials. Promotional materials consist of any type of printed or electronic communication that provides course information to prospective participants. Proper use of the logo and accompanying language is a requirement of sponsorship.

As required by the National Registry Sponsor Agreement, the National Registry statement must be used in its entirety and without alteration in promotional and other materials distributed to potential participants:

National Registry Statement:

(Insert your organization’s name) is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.NASBARegistry.org.

The above statement is always required in promotional materials.  The use of the Registry logo is optional. However, if the logo is used, then the statement must always be located next to the logo— except in cases where the logo is used in digital media. In those cases, it is permissible to use a free-standing logo, provided that a user clicks on the logo and is taken to a page or window that displays the National Registry statement.

It is important to note that NASBA and the National Registry of CPE Sponsors are considered separate when it comes to the promotion of CPE courses. Often, the use of the term “NASBA” becomes intertwined with the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. While NASBA operates the National Registry, the two terms are separate. As such, the use of the NASBA logo is never allowed, unless written permission is granted.
