University of Illinois Tax School
The University of Illinois Tax School provides high quality professional continuing education to tax professionals through live seminars, webinars and self-study courses. The Tax School annually serves more than 4,000 tax professionals. The 2-day Fall Tax School seminar is offered annually in an online format. Topics vary each year, but typically include new developments, individual taxpayer issues, small business tax issues, agricultural tax issues, ethics, rulings & cases, retirement tax issues. Other topics included in the seminar are based on suggestions from prior year seminar attendees or are “hot topics” for the year. In January, webinars focused on “what’s new” in federal and the state of Illinois are offered.
A few of the topics taught in webinars are converted to online self-study courses. These courses are reviewed annually to determine if content is still accurate and relevant.
In addition to the seminar/webinar offerings, the Tax School annually creates and publishes the University of Illinois Federal Tax Workbook. In addition to use at the 2-day Fall Tax School, this workbook is purchased by tax continuing education programs in 27 states across the United States. The University of Illinois Federal Tax Workbook is typically 650-750 pages of new content developed each year. It includes content related to new tax law, court cases, IRS pronouncements, ethical practice, and “hot topics” of interest to tax professionals in their practice.
