Tips For Newly Approved Sponsors

Apr 03, 2023

Are you a newly approved Sponsor? We asked National Registry Account Managers Megan Mason and Karen Mourcy for advice that they think every new Sponsor should know! Here is what they think you need to hear:

Top things to know:

  • Sponsors are approved for the number of program offerings selected with their submitted application. They can add new programs up to the program offering level without review or approval from NASBA. These programs can be offered to external and/or internal audiences regardless of the audience selected in their application. If Sponsors need to increase their program offering level, they can do so at any time by contacting their account manager.

  • Sponsors are unable to award retroactive credits with their NASBA-approved Sponsor ID number for programs offered before their application approval.

  • Sponsors are required to establish two points of contact at the Sponsor organization, the main and the supervisory. These contacts are responsible for being knowledgeable about the Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs (Standards) and National Registry requirements. The main contact is responsible for the following:

    • Understanding the foundational requirements for membership on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. Being familiar with the Standards, including requirements for attendance monitoring and maintaining records of program offerings.

    • Staying current with National Registry requirements.

    • Completing the annual renewal application.

  • Remain compliant! Once Sponsors are approved, they must continue to adhere to the Standards and requirements demonstrated during the application process.

  • Maintain your records in accordance with Standard 24. When completing the annual membership renewal or if selected for a desk audit, Sponsors should easily be able to access those records and provide all the necessary information.

  • Transfer your knowledge! Be sure to have a transition plan if there is a change in the main point of contact.

For any questions, sponsors can contact their account manager or reach the National Registry at cpe@nasba.org
