The new Fields of Study document became effective September 1, 2016. The changes focused primarily on recent and more pertinent information, including the revisions to the Specialized Knowledge field of study. The latest edition separates computer science applications and information technology into their own categories and allows Specialized Knowledge to consist of topics that are specific to specialized industries or services.

The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) understood that some sponsors required additional time to incorporate the revised Fields of Study in their learning management system or course catalogs and delayed the deadline to December 31, 2017. Now that we are well into the new year, we would like to remind all sponsors to review your courses, to ensure you are classifying the content according to the new Fields of Study classifications.
