During the process of the last revisions cycle to the Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs (Standards), the CPE Standards Working Group (Working Group) recognized that advancements in technology, the transformative impact of AI and other innovations in learning and learning modalities seem to be blurring the lines of how the instructional delivery methods for CPE programs are currently defined in the Standards. The Working Group believes that it is time to holistically reconsider the instructional delivery methods and envision what those might be in the future. 

At the end of March, National Registry leadership participated in a breakout session at the AICPA LEAD Symposium in Nashville, TN, to brainstorm and gather information from participating CPA firms. They learned about technologies and tools that are being used or considered by firms and their learning and development teams and the challenges inherent in the current delivery methods. 

A small task force of the Working Group met this month to begin the initial deliberations and discussions regarding this effort. More information will be shared as the project unfolds.
