This course provides a thorough understanding of the basic concepts of value added taxes. It deals with the basic principles of the tax and looks at how it operates at both the domestic and the international level. It considers the EU approaches and compares these with approaches taken by a number of non-EU states. The legal aspects of VAT as well as some of the important administrative issues are considered.
